How to plan your Vacation:
- Decided what the main purpose is? For example see as much as possible of where you are going.
- Visit friend or family?
- Just relax and kick back?
- Any specific activities like fishing, hiking, water sports, etc. you want to include?
- How about how much of the planning are you willing to do yourself?
- Who is the vacation designed for, adults, your children, or both?
Do not forget these basics:
- Check what the weather is going to be.
- Dress for the normal weather where you are vacationing.
- Do not bring a lot of cloths with you. You will not be meeting the same people everyday unless you are on a cruise.

The killer of a relaxing vacations is trying to do to much in the time you have set aside for your vacation.
Think about going on a cruise. Everything is done for you after you check in onboard. There is lots of entertainment choices as well as destinations. You should realize you will not get a lot of time at any single destination to actually spend time off the ship. Keep in mind you can schedule your own shore excursions which will give you a lot more flexibility and save a little money.
Visit a National or State Park. This is can be a great choice there are always things to do and lots of time to do them. If your vacation is long enough you could visit multiple parks.
Pick a location to stay at that is within easy driving distance of a few things you would like to see and then leave plenty of time to visit each of them.
Do not forget to check the normal weather for the months you plan on visiting.
You may find the time you set aside for your vacation and where you want to go are not a good match.
Google is also a place you can get weather informaiton as well as what to see and do in any given area.
Determine the best time of the year. This is overlooked so often. If you vacation in Honolulu Hawaii in November and December, you most likely will get rained on. It may even rain your entire vacation as it rains around 30% of the time during those months. It is a warm rain normally so other than being wet and cloudy it is ok. There are just better times to be there.

Packaged Vacation & Group Tours
I found while I'm not against packaged vacations they just do not seem to fit into the way I like to vacation. I know a lot of people enjoy them. They’re selling point to me is they are easy.
However, packaged vacations and group tours seem too rushed for me. They seem to want to spend time where I do not care about or I want too.
City or Specific location Tours
At times a tour is absolutely the best or the only way to see that location (i.e. Rome or the Vatican) I used them when I believe they are warranted.
I try to make these tours with as small a group as possible. I have found that if you are travelling with as few as 4 people you can book a small group tours for almost the same cost as a group tour containing 12 or more individuals.
