Sequim Area

Lots of  things to do and places to see around Sequim

Our main reasons to be on the Peninsula were the waterfalls, Olympic Game Farm and as a gateway to Vancouver Island. These three alone are about all you can do in a two week vacation.

We did find a number of gems to visit. While in the area we toured some of the Peninsula's waterfalls the Olympic Game Farm and went to Vancouver Island.  While there we found a few other interesting places to stop and explore. Historic Dungeness School House, Nash’s organic produce for shopping, Point Wilson, John Wayne Marina and others.  All with are relatively short stops.

John Wayne Marina was constructed in 1985 on 22 acres of land donated by the John Wayne who frequented Sequim Bay waters aboard this yacht the Wild Goose.

John Wayne had envisioned a marina in the scenic bay prior to his death. His vision became reality under auspices of the Port of Port Angeles. If you like boat and a quite scenic location this is worth a short stop.

Point Wilson Lighthouse has limited tours in fact they were only available on Saturdays when we were there.  We where not there on Saturday so our pictures were limited to outside.

A really interesting thing is you can stay overnight on the lighthouse property currently they have two restored places for you to choose from, the historic two-bedroom 1879 Keepers' Duplex and the four-bedroom Chief's House.

More information and reservations available at U.S. Lighthouse Society Headquarters Phone: 415-362-7255 Email: Point Wilson Lighthouse rental

Nash's Organic Produce is located close to the Dungeness School House and is a great place to shop.

It has been providing quality food to Olympic Peninsula and Seattle customers for 40 years. They grow delicious fruits, vegetables, grain and pork year round and root crops, especially carrots, and flour are available.

We stopped and purchased a weeks worth of products.

Dungeness School House is a historical schoolhouse.  On May 10, 1892, a meeting was held in which settlers choose to raise the money necessary to build a school house. The school house opened on February 27, 1893. It features a decorative belfry with bell-shaped roof centered over the original two-room schoolhouse and upstairs auditorium.

Currently some of classrooms in the building are available for rent to small gatherings.
